Southern Straits
West Vancouver Yacht Club Hosts 44th Annual Southern Straits Classic
Now in its 44th year, the regatta is a West Coast racing tradition and an Easter Weekend ritual for sailors, their families, and the community (Good Friday is April 6th).
Racers from around the Pacific Northwest are expected to participate in this challenging overnight race. Three courses will see sailors criss-crossing Georgia Strait, testing their strategy, skill, and endurance.

Round Saltspring

The 38th ROUND SALTSPRING race starts on Saturday morning in Ganges Harbour, taking a challenging and scenically spectacular course that circumnavigates Salt Spring Island, a nominal distance of 42 NM. It is sailed by everything from funky pocket cruisers to out-and-out grand prix racing machines, skippered by everyone from novice sailors to Olympic champions.
But it is the whole event, not just the race itself, that keeps sailors coming back year after year. Join us, and see why sailors say Round Saltspring is the best regatta on the coast.
Patos Island Race

A challenging race – an excellent test of sailing and navigation skills – choose from three courses. See the poster for more details.
VicMaui 2012
The 2012 Vic-Maui race, the twenty-third edition of this ocean racing classic, will start from Victoria, British Columbia. Class starts will be staggered, with starts commencing as early as June 28, 2012. The race will finish near Lahaina, Maui, a great circle route distance of 2308 nautical miles.
Vic-Maui, first contested in 1968 and run every second year since, is the pinnacle of Pacific Northwest ocean racing. The Vic-Maui race challenges sailors to demonstrate their skills by beating out of the Juan De Fuca Strait, reaching around the Pacific High Pressure zone and running the trades to Hawaii. The 2010 Vic-Maui enjoyed excellent wind conditions, with line honors captured by a thirty-five foot high performance boat which finished in just eleven days and fifteen hours, and the overall win earned by a forty-eight foot performance cruiser which finished in twelve days and twelve hours. Vic-Maui records are waiting to be broken in 2012.
Northern Century
The Northern Centuryis held each year at the end of August and is the Anacortes Yacht Club’s premier distance event. 2012 will be the fifth running of this great event and as before we are planning three separate races:
1. Double-handed mono-hull
2. Fully-crewed mono-hull
3. Double-handed multi-hull
Round the County
The Orcas Island Yacht Club and the Friday Harbor Sailing Club invite you to participate in the 25th annual “ROUND the COUNTY” sailboat race. This event will be held in the gorgeous and challenging waters of San Juan County Washington. The race is approximately 76 miles with an overnight stop in Roche Harbor, San Juan Island. Due to the great venue, the better winds of November, and the overnight stop in Roche Harbor, the race has become one of the more popular in the Pacific Northwest.
